You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or airport and be transferred to the Wilson airport for your departure flight to Samburu airstrip. Upon arrival, pick up and transfer to Samburu Intrepids Camp. After lunch, relax before a late afternoon game drive. Samburu has a lot to offer in terms of wildlife, birds and scenery. The Sarova Shaba Game Lodge has a beautiful hilltop location overlooking the rolling plains and woodlands of the Masai Mara, one of the world’s richest wildlife sanctuaries. The annual migration of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle takes place across these plains, and even outside of the migration season you can look forward to spectacular sightings.

You can spend your day on a game drive; enjoy a morning bird walk with the lodge’s resident naturalist, or visit a traditional Masai Manyatta (village). A great extra is a hot-air balloon safari where you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife below and then descend to a scenic champagne breakfast served in the middle of the bush. In the evening, you can enjoy tribal dancing displays, as well as wildlife and cultural talks.

Styled to mirror the circular motif of a traditional Maasai manyatta, the lodge blends international sophistication with raw African beauty while featuring twin rows of individual rooms, some with views of the famous Mara River. Equally breathtaking sightlines can be enjoyed from the restaurant and bar and rock-enclosed swimming pool. Enjoy an early morning game drive in the reserve, then back to the camp for breakfast. Relax at the camp before lunch. You can cool off in the lovely pool before a late afternoon game drive in this delightful national reserve. The reserve located in the north provides a strong contrast to other scenic areas in Kenya. In the desert-like landscape is dominated by the yellow-brown savannah grass, interspersed with acacia trees and thorny bushes. Along the many source pools and rivers that run through the region seasonally, growing gallery forest and doum palms. The rivers are colored brown and invite elephant to swim. You have here the opportunity to spot the rare species such as the Grevy’s Zebra or Gerenuk antelope, which are otherwise not found in Kenya. Overnight at Sarova Shaba Game.
